Method

HOW TO BOIL RAW CRABS

4 Raw Blue Swimmer or Sand Crabs

Place crabs into a pot of salted, boiling water. Bring back to the boil.

When boiling simmer for 8 – 10 minutes.

Remove crabs and place immediately into a pre prepared ice bath until chilled.

Prepare crabs (see below) and serve with sliced bread and seafood cocktail sauce.

Salt and pepper to taste.

PREPARING CRABS

Lift the tail flap then with a peeling motion, lift off the entire shell of the crab.

Remove and discard the gills, liver and brain.

Wash well under cold running water until clean.

Cut in half.

Method is the same for raw or cooked crabs.

 

Note:
If using raw crabs in a recipe prepare whilst raw then cook as per method. If boiling raw crabs always cook whole, chill then prepare.
